Basilan – Yes! It is now possible to pass in between the Island of Basilan if the Basilan Circumferential Highway is still not enough for you.

Last May 24, 2017 the Department of Public Works and Highways Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao headed by Regional Governor Mujiv S. Hataman together with DPWH ARMM Secretary Engr. Mustapha Loong and DPWH ARMM Basilan District Engineer Soler Undug entered into a Memorandum of Agreement between the provincial Government of Basilan represented by Governor Jim S. Hataman Salliman for the implementation of two road projects namely: Brgy. Tumahubong – Puno Dahingan Road and Brgy. Puno Dahingan – Sampinit Road. These two road projects are part of the Basilan Tran central Road Phase II project both worth P164.5M each with a total provision of P329M, this is part of the over-all P1.2B cost of Project for the said Tran central Road Phase II. The Period of completion will be after two years as these programs entails more time for construction and huge amount of budget is considered. The occasion not the said MOA signing was witnessed by the provincial Treasurer Majad K. Daggong, Provincial Engineer Nasser Abdulgani and Provincial Planning and Development Officer Engr. Nelson A. Akmadol.

Per assessment of the DPWH-ARMM, the said construction of roads will have a huge impact on more than 7,000 hectares of agricultural land that will benefit the province in terms of agricultural development, moreover, four agrarian reform communities (ARC’s) will also eventually benefit from these road projects that include: Baiwas, Puno Mahadje, Suampinit Mahatala and Tumahubng, As to the Province peace keeping, the security forces will now have easy access to the mountains to run after the lawless elements.
