THE FIRST FARTHEST LGU IN ARMM TO RESPOND TO MARAWI CRISIS
Named as Basilan Taskforce – Sagip Marawi, the provincial government through the initiative of Governor Jim Hataman Salliman right away convened for an emergency meeting last May 30 two days after the start of Marawi siege, to discuss the aid of the province to the victims of terror attacks in Marawi. Present during the meeting are the different Mayors, Provincial deparment heads and members of the AFP.

The overwhelming response to the call of the Provincial Government to seek for donations in the different business sectors, national line agencies and non-government organizations showed the vast interest of the provincial community to help one another in response to the said crisis. More than five thousand packed relief goods were able to prepare through the joint effort of several volunteers coming from different sectors in a span of only one week. Each relief pack contains rice, sardines, noodles, chocolate drink, and coffee. Apart from these, several donations such as cash, modest clothes, toiletries, assorted medicines, prayer garments and sleeping items were able to send out to Marawi City.
On june 7, the group of volunteers consisting of provincial government employees and members of the AFP spearheaded by Provincial Administrator Uso Dan I. Salasim took-off to saguiaran Municipality, Lanao Del Sur to personnly turn-over the relief goods to the people of Marawi City.

The Whoe hearted contribution of the people of Basilan to the people of Marawi was elcomed by the Internallyu Displaced People especially so that operations by the government against the Mauted Group is still on going and continues to wreak havoc and destabilization to the socio-economic and cultural lines of the people.
